Sponsorship Enquiries
Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue Sponsorship Guidelines
Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue are low fare airlines, focused on keeping air travel affordable for people travelling throughout Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific.
To achieve our goal of ‘Keeping the Air Fair’ and ensure that fares remain low over the long term, it’s imperative we keep our costs down. This means that we pursue a limited number of sponsorship opportunities. In reality, we don't have a sponsorship budget at all. Every sponsorship opportunity is reviewed on a case-by-case basis. If the opportunity meets the guidelines that we have established for sponsorships, limited contra support may be possible. We certainly like to help where we can.
For initial contact, please fill out the Sponsorship Application Form, outlining the event and/or request. Please try to be as specific as you can, detailing in full what the event and/or request is, and in turn, what will be provided to Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue and/or Polynesian Blue as part of the sponsorship arrangement. Key elements of your proposal should include:
- What is the concept/event/request?
- When will the concept/event be taking place? i.e. What are relevant dates?
- What/who is your target market?

What form and level of support are you seeking from Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue and/or Polynesian Blue?
Please be as specific as possible in terms of fares being sought and the key dates. -
What are the benefits that you propose to return to Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue and/or Polynesian Blue?
Full details of the bundle of benefits that you are suggesting could be provided in return for our support should be outlined. You should provide details in relation to any proposed media/advertising schedule, along with details of signage, size and placement of logo, hospitality etc. Please keep in mind that we like to pursue opportunities that deliver positive exposure for Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue and/or Polynesian Blue and which encourage people to travel to attend and/or participate in the relevant event/concept.
We’ll try our best to respond via return email within 3 weeks to your request. Please be patient if the response to your request takes a little longer than expected as we receive thousands of requests each month and it does take time to thoroughly review and assess all opportunities. We ask that you keep any “follow up” phone calls to a minimum as this distracts us from our core task of reviewing and responding to you as quickly as we can.
All sponsorship opportunities are assessed on a case by case basis, however, to help you in putting together your proposal, some general guidelines are outlined below:

What do we offer?
We do not provide any cash support. All sponsorship opportunities involve contra i.e. flights in return for exposure. -
High Risk Sports
As safety is our number one priority, we don’t provide sponsorship for high-risk sports. Therefore we do not engage in sponsorship for extreme or motor sports. Yes, we know our fearless Chairman, Richard Branson, is a bit of a dare devil and has had a few near misses in his hot-air ballooning days, but we prefer to err on the side of caution. So requests for sponsorship of high-risk activities including motorcycle, speed boat and car racing will be not supported. -
Personal Assistance Requests
We receive many personal requests for assistance with flights for compassionate reasons, especially for disadvantaged or ill people who are experiencing great hardships. While we wish we were in a position to be able to assist with every single one of them, we are simply unable to help the majority of requests for assistance. We try to make sure our everyday fares are low enough so that everyone can afford them. -
Community Fundraising
Fundraising is an integral part of the activities undertaken by many schools, churches, Societies, Clubs and community organizations. The majority of requests sent to us relate to this type of fundraising. While we would like to be able to help all of you, we obviously cannot (as there would be no seats left for paying guests if we did), and as we find it difficult to justify assisting one without assisting all requests we’re unable to donate goods or services for fetes, trivia nights, auctions etc. at this time. -
Sporting Teams and Individual Athletes
Only on rare occasions will we provide sponsorship for professional or championship level athletes or sporting groups. Unfortunately we’re unable to provide sponsorship for junior or social sports teams and clubs. -
We look favourably on proposals that:
- Benefit a bona fide charity organisation.
- Include other like-minded companies that fit well together as part of the one concept (i.e. supports the Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue and/or Polynesian Blue brand).
- Would benefit significantly from our involvement rather than it just being a small component of the overall proposal.
- Provides Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue and/or Polynesian Blue with significant and valuable return for assistance.
- Is an event or situation that supports our brand values of value, fun, innovation and competitive spirit.
- Are just WAY too great to say no to.
So, if you think you have a really great event that Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue and/or Polynesian Blue should be involved in, please lodge a Sponsorship Application Form, being sure to provide as much detail as possible.
