How to Book

Online:
Our cheapest fares are found on our website - which include a $15 discount (for each one-way flight) when compared to booking through our Guest Contact Centre.  You can make a booking on our website 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

  • Get started right away by filling in the required fields in the ‘Flights’ tab on the left hand side of this page.
  • The following bookings cannot be made through our website and must be made through our Guest Contact Centre:
    • Bookings using a voucher;
    • Using a credit note (even if original booking was made online);
    • Unaccompanied minor bookings (children aged 5 – 12 travelling alone).

 By Phone:
Our Guest Contact Centre is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to take your bookings or answer your travel queries.

Through a Travel Agent:
Almost every travel agent across the country can book a flight with us.

  • Contact your travel agent during business hours for further details.

You can make a booking to travel today provided you do so at least 90 minutes before the time of departure for domestic travel, and 3 hours before time of departure for international travel.  If you need to book to travel sooner, please contact our Guest Contact Centre, your travel agent, or you can make your booking on arrival at our airport terminals.

For international bookings with Pacific Blue Airlines and Polynesian Blue Airlines, please refer to the information provided in the Flying Internationally section of our site.

If you wish to purchase an ‘Interline’ booking (a connecting service with an international partner airline) please contact your travel agent.

Method of Sale
There are three ways to book a Virgin Blue Airlines, Pacific Blue Airlines and Polynesian Blue Airlines flight and these are:

Please note that we do NOT cold call Guests or engage in unsolicited telemarketing campaigns, so do not under any circumstances accept a verbal offer over the phone or provide credit card details to anyone calling you directly and claiming to be from Virgin Blue Airlines, Pacific Blue Airlines or Polynesian Blue Airlines.

Our Fares

We have a range of fare options to suit all your travel needs.

In Australia and New Zealand, we always advertise prices including taxes and charges.  Our website booking process displays applicable taxes and charges or you can ask for details through our Guest Contact Centre

For details on all our fare types, take a look at our Fare Type Guide

Alternatively, you can pay for your booking with cash at most travel agents, or at our airport terminals.

In line with industry practice, we charge a surcharge for fares paid by credit cards or debit cards.

Payments by credit or debit card attract a surcharge per Guest*, per flight segment which will be added to the total price of your fare.  For further information, please refer to our Fees and Surcharges; or your itinerary for applicable charges in the relevant currency.

* New Zealand domestic flight bookings do not incur a credit or debit card surcharge.

Tickets

We are a 100% ticket-less airline. When you book with us on the internet, phone or through a travel agent, you will be provided with a Reservation number (also called a PNR – Passenger Name Record).

You must keep this number secure and confidential and present it at check-in along with photo identification, a printed copy of your itinerary and (for international flights) your passport.  Note that some immigration authorities may require proof of return or onward travel, for which the printed itinerary may be useful.

If you enjoy the convenience of self check-in through our check-in kiosks located at the airport terminals, your itinerary will be helpful to scan your booking and help you to check-in faster.

Connecting Flights

If you book an Australian or New Zealand domestic connecting flight, we will check your bags through to your final destination and issue all your boarding passes at your originating airport. At the transit (stopover) port, all you need to do is go to the gate of your next flight.

If you are booked on an international connecting flight and your first flight commences in Australia and terminates outside Australia (e.g. Adelaide - Melbourne - Christchurch) your baggage will be checked all the way through from check-in to your final destination.

If your connecting flight commences outside Australia and terminates in Australia (e.g. Christchurch - Melbourne - Adelaide), you will need to collect your baggage at the international transit terminal and take it through customs with you. Bags can be re-checked at our check-in desks located on the other side of customs.

If you can't find a direct or connecting flight to meet your travel needs, you can book separate direct flights to get to your destination, e.g. Cairns-Brisbane and then Brisbane-Sydney.

If you choose to book this way, you must leave at least:

  • 90 minutes for domestic ports and;
  • 2.5 hours for international ports between the scheduled arrival time of one flight, and the scheduled departure time of the next flight.

This is to allow time for all check-in procedures required in the transit port as you will need to collect your bags at the transit port and check in again.

Please note that when flights are booked separately (i.e. they are not part of a connecting flight), Virgin Blue, Pacific Blue or Polynesian Blue will not be responsible if a flight is missed and your fare is forfeited.
