Blue Zone Conditions of Sale

General
Blue Zone seating is located in Boeing 737 and Embraer E190 over wing exit rows, plus Row 1ABC onboard Pacific Blue and Polynesian Blue Boeing 737 Aircraft. Blue Zone is not available on Embraer E170 Aircraft.

Accordingly, if you want to sit in a Blue Zone seat, you must meet our safety requirements which are described below.

Safety requirements
To be seated in a Blue Zone seat, you must:

  • Be 15 years or older
  • Be physically able to locate and operate the emergency exit, and to quickly pass through the exit
  • Be able to converse in English with our Cabin Crew about the tasks you will be expected to perform in an emergency evacuation and read the safety card provided by our Crew for that purpose
  • Be willing to assist the Crew and other passengers in the evacuation of the aircraft
  • Not have any condition (be it a consequence of age, frailty, injury, physical or psychological disability, vision or hearing impairment, sickness, injury or anything else) which may prevent you from performing the duties listed above
  • Not be travelling with a carer, a guide dog or an assistance animal
  • Not be carrying an infant
  • Not require the use of an extension seat belt

A boarding pass for Blue Zone Seating will only be issued once our Ground Staff confirm that you meet the safety requirements described above.  This important safety requirement means that you will not be able to use Web Check-in or Kiosk Check-in if you have purchased a Blue Zone seat.

If you can no longer meet the safety requirements
If your circumstances change and you subsequently cannot meet the above safety requirements, please call the Guest Contact Centre prior to travel to remove the Blue Zone reservation.  You will receive a credit* for your Blue Zone fee.

How much?
The Blue Zone fee is $30 AUD, $30 NZD, $40 FJD, $60 WST and $50 TOP (in applicable booking currency) for each one way sector or formal connection.

For example:

  • One way flight of one sector (e.g. Sydney - Brisbane) - $30 AUD/NZD.
  • Standard return flight i.e. 2 sectors (e.g. Sydney – Brisbane – Sydney) - $60 AUD/NZD.
  • One way connecting flight i.e. 2 sectors (e.g. Brisbane to Perth via Sydney) - $30 AUD/NZD.
  • Return connecting flights i.e. 4 sectors (e.g. Brisbane – Perth via Sydney and Perth – Brisbane via Sydney) - $60 AUD/NZD.
  • One way double connecting flights i.e. 3 sectors (e.g. Cairns - Hobart via Brisbane and Melbourne) - $30 AUD/NZD.

Velocity Points
Blue Zone is a Special Service Request (SSR) Fee, and accordingly, you cannot redeem your Velocity Points for Blue Zone seating, and you will not earn Velocity Points when purchasing Blue Zone seating. 

Booking changes
Blue Zone bookings are non transferable.

Cancellations and Changes to flight bookings with Blue Zone seating may be made via the Guest Contact Centre, in accordance with the Fare Rules associated with the flight booking and Fare Rule fees will apply. Blue Zone seating cannot be changed or cancelled online. Changes to flights made online may result in forfeiture of the Blue Zone fee and no credit issued.

If Blue Zone seating is unavailable on the changed flight, the Guest Contact Centre will issue a credit* in the amount of the Blue Zone fee.


* Please note: Credits are non-refundable and must be used within 12 months from the date of first booking by contacting the Guest Contact Centre, applicable Guest Contact Centre rates apply.
